About Brandi Anthony
A northern girl raised in a small town of Hudson's Hope, BC, having moved to West Kelowna in 2000. I am now a local artist with a passion for art, animals and people. I am a self taught artist who is constantly looking and learning new methods and techniques. I am open minded and always willing to implement my talents with the voices and opinions of others.
I was often told to choose one field in art and one medium. Whether it be flowers, landscapes, or portraits or charcoal, acrylic and oil, and stick to it until I became exceptional at it. But I found that too stifling. I was always interested in what else can I do. I don’t like to consider being put in a box as I am much more interested on what is on the outside of the box then what is in. And that is why I love to work in the different mediums and subjects.
I strive for realism with acrylics, oils and colored pencils but often add my touch with abstract vibrant colors. To choose a favorite medium or subject is impossible for me as often I am drawn to the subject by the light or angle of which it is presented with. Often the reference will speak to me and tell me which medium I would like to see it.
More recently I am drawn to the use and play of light and shadow. Each piece is special to me and I enjoy the journey of creating. I love each time when the journey comes to an end I get to see the wonder and enjoyment on my customers faces and know that I brought to them a piece that they will love and cherish.
